Critical Care

Compounding the clinicians ability to improve clinical outcomes and compliance to established protocols are well known:

  • Data overload and click fatigue
  • Navigating non-integrated sources of data leads
  • Lack of clinical decision support
  • Inability to view and understand the entire patient context
  • Lack of clarity surrounding patient prioritization
  • Delays in care escalation

Critical Care

The key challenges clinicians face when delivering quality care in a critical environment are:

  • Data overload and click fatigue
  • Navigating non-integrated sources of data leads
  • Lack of clinical decision support
  • Inability to view and understand the entire patient context
  • Lack of clarity surrounding patient prioritization
  • Delays in care escalation

How It Works

Decisio takes data from multiple sources, EHR, pharmacy, medical devices, lab, etcetera – and then aggregates the data into a common unified data platform. It provides continuous monitoring and visualization of the patient’s condition through unit configurable dashboards at the bedside or remote. Our software provides clinicians with situational awareness at a glance – thus reducing data overload and “click fatigue”.

The Power of Decisio

Digitized Protocols and Dashboards Across the Care Spectrum

Unit Surveillance View Dashboard

Enables situational awareness at-a- glance during time-sensitive critical situations

  • Continuously surveils patients with clinically validated protocols and highlights those who may be at greatest risk for deterioration with automated visual alerts (highlighted as red or yellow)
  • Care teams may adjust their rounding strategy – instead of rounding from Bed 1 to Bed 15, they can focus immediate attention on patients in most need of attention
  • Enables nursing leadership to quickly check multiple protocols to improve care quality

Patient View Dashboard

The Patient View dashboard, displays demographics, vitals, trends, and protocol compliance

  • Enables patient-specific situational awareness at-a-glance during time-sensitive critical situations
  • Helps clinicians prioritize attention to those most critical indicators
  • Tailored Dashboards for each unit provides configurable protocols (bundles) and actionable insights that help direct clinicians to deliver timely, responsive, and compliant care – reducing unwanted care variation

Sepsis Management

Embedded insights within the visual workflow, in the form of checklists, helps to reduce variability of care.

  • In this example, when the diagnosis of Sepsis is confirmed, the The Patient View dashboard can display the Early Goal Directed Therapy tasks for Sepsis management
  • The EGDT checklist (and all checklists) will indicate when tasks have been completed (ordered, administered) and those still outstanding – improving communication throughout the day and during shift changes.

Traumatic Brain Injury

This example dashboard shows the Patient View for a Neuro patient (TBI, Stroke, etc.) with invasive monitoring in the Neuro ICU.

  • This patient has an External Ventricular Device (EVD) placed in their head, which transmits Intracranial Pressure (ICP) and Cerebral Perfusion Pressure (CPP) values.
  • Using the CPP and Mean Arterial Pressure (MAP) values, Decisio auto-calculates the Pressure Reactivity Index (PRx), plots the PRx graph, and provides information about the Optimal CPP (CPPOpt) to the clinical team.

AKI Management

In this Patient View example, the Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) protocol turned yellow – indicating possible issues with nephrotoxic medications. What triggered this alert was the sudden rise in the patient’s Creatinine value

  • From the Patient View, clicking on the “Chem header” will display expanded views of the chemistry values (i.e. trends)
  • A Creatinine value of 1.3 is typically within a normal range. However, in this patient’s case, their value was 0.8 a few hours earlier.
  • The Rx alternate view  displays all the active medications for the patient, color-coded based on their renal clearances. Enabling clinicians to either stop or alter the dosage for that medication.

Integrated Medications Display

Dashboards have the ability to display an expanded view of vitals, labs or chemistry value trends.

Additionally, the expanded gives the clinicians the ability to view both active and recently discontinued medication administration details – including status, dosage, admin time as well as the possible effects of medications – superimposed on those trend lines.

Clicking on one or more medications will instantly plot the medication administration time vs. the vital signs trend. This view can also be used to confirm the medication compliance status

Methodology:  From written protocol to digitized workflow

The power of Decisio comes from the digitized standards of care and clinical protocols. Decisio has digitized those protocols across multiple departments from the Emergency Department, Intensive Care, Maternity, and Rapid Response areas.

Decisio uses no proprietary algorithms. We start with peer-reviewed protocols that are easily configurable for your hospital specific workflows, data values, and thresholds – configurable for each specific unit and patient population.
